Job Overview
Join our team at Nashua Transit System as an Operations and Safety Manager! We work closely with the city’s Transit Authority, in a great location, and offer a great benefits package! Transdev Nashua, New Hampshire provides vital services to Nashua, and the surrounding community. This position oversees delivery of service, safety, and training for our staff of approximately 30 Drivers.
Responsibilities:
- Performs drivers’ onboarding, training, safety evaluations, ride checks, observation of drivers, and prescribes the necessary retraining.
- Responds to service problems including rerouting and passenger events with the goal of restoration of interrupted service.
- Investigates accidents and incidents.
- Directly supervises drivers, responsible to lead, coach, and discipline drivers up through the Written Warning level of progressive discipline.
- Provides relief to service provision by driving in revenue service if required.
- Reviews and investigates Drive Cam video and applies the appropriate interaction with the driver in accordance to established policies.
- Provides leadership to the operations employees by demonstrating safe work behaviors and following all company rules and policies.
- Investigates and responds to situation reports and potential unsafe locations, making reports and recommendations.
- Effectively communicates with management personnel regarding operational or safety issues or concerns and coordinates efforts toward their resolution.
- Provides passenger assistance to drivers.
- Coordinates with departmental managers to address roadside problems.
- Prepares and maintains reports and performs clerical activities associated with operations.
- Assist the General Manager in the administration of the company’s Drug and Alcohol testing and Work Comp programs.
- Supervises staff and responsible to direct, coach, discipline, retrain or coordinate retraining within established guidelines.
- Documents employee actions within established guidelines
- Works in cooperation with other managers and supervisors to ensure seamless, safe, high-quality service to passengers.
- Embraces Transdev’s safety vision; adopts and employs the company’s safety rules, policies, and procedures; effectively communicates safety and on time service expectations to drivers.
- Assists in the investigation of passenger comments and other matters in close coordination with others.
- Maintains complete confidentiality of all information/Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
- CDL Class B or A license-with passenger endorsement.
- Two years’ experience as a Driver or Supervisor for public transportation service
- Previous public transit driving, and supervision experience preferred.
- Ability to drive public transit vehicles.
- Ability to apply progressive coaching and discipline consistently, timely and in accordance with the terms of collective bargaining agreements.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret transit system operating rules, regulations, policies, phases, and routes.
- Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
- Must be able to take a leadership role in solving problems.
- Must demonstrate satisfactory technical knowledge.
- Travel requirement (as a percent): <5% for occasional meetings.
- Must be able to maintain a DOT medical card.
