Our railroad maintenance division, Transdev Rail, Inc, provides an integrated suite of railroad maintenance, project oversight, and construction services.  This position is in south Florida, where Transdev Rail, Inc. employs a workforce of approximately 80 employees to maintain over 70 miles of track, bridges and structures, facilities and the right of way from Miami to Mangonia Park.

 

Overview of Position:

Equipment Operator will run, operate and help maintain railroad equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various on and off-track equipment as required in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
  • Troubleshoots equipment malfunctions and performs daily equipment inspections.
  • Work around all types of moving equipment.
  • Perform laborer duties as needed.
  • Ability to pass railroad rules (GCOR) and RWP training.

 

Experience Required:

  • Prefer minimum two years’ experience operating heavy railroad equipment such as bulldozer, backhoe, excavator, grapple truck or other large equipment on railroad maintenance and/or railroad construction projects.
  • Working knowledge of familiar with various type of tools and equipment.
  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Prefer Class A CDL.
  • Able to read, write and communicate the English language.

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check and physical exam.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to climb up and down ladders, stoop, and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, and walk on an uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner.
