Our railroad maintenance division, Transdev Rail, Inc, provides an integrated suite of railroad maintenance, project oversight, and construction services.  This position is in south Florida, where Transdev Rail, Inc. employs a workforce of approximately 80 employees to maintain over 70 miles of track, bridges and structures, facilities and the right of way from Miami to Mangonia Park.

 

Overview of Position:

Install railroad track and reconstruct existing highway grade crossings along the South Florida Rail Corridor.  Performs a variety of tasks involving physical labor and the use of hand and power tools to build and reconstruct railroad track. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the execution of manual labor for accomplishment of tasks with regard to track installation and rehab.
  • Ensure compliance with all railroad rules regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA).
  • Loads, moves and distributes materials in preparation of work activities for rail projects.
  • Participates in job site-clean-up.
  • Work around all types of moving equipment.
  • Perform other track laborer duties as needed.
  • Ability to pass railroad rules (GCOR) and RWP training.

 

Experience/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prefer minimum one year track laborer work experience or a field-based operations involving manual labor such as construction or a related industry
  • High School diploma/GED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Prefer Class A CDL
  • Able to read, write and communicate the English language

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test, background check and physical exam.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs.  Constant bending, twisting, stooping, standing and walking.
  • Able to walk, climb and maintain balance on equipment, stairs, ladders uneven terrain, rails and ballast in a safe manner.
