Job Purpose: 

 

Oversees the day-to-day functions and operations of the maintenance department. Assist the Maintenance Manager in all aspect of their duties. Ensures all DOT specifications are met.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and supervise maintenance staff.
  • Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, counseling, and issuing discipline to maintenance staff members through documentation in accordance with Company and client specifications.
  • Manage equipment, parts and supplies inventories.
  • Ensure all mechanics have proper licenses and certifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment history.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within the maintenance department.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance facility.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma required; some college preferred.
  • Must have 3+ years of supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Must have 3+ years’ experience dealing with heavy equipment.  Experience with hybrid vehicles a plus.
  • Experience working with Unions and in the transportation industry a must.
  • Must have previous experience supervising employees on multiple shifts.
  • ASE certifications are required.
  • Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.
  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
  • General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.
  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.
  • Exposure to cleaning solutions, oils, and other liquids.
  • Must be able to travel for company training, meeting or support missions.
