Assistant General Manager
Major Responsibilities:
  • Assures a safe working environment.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to develop location and personnel.
  • Ensures compliance of all company and contract procedures and policies.
  • Assesses resource needs, problems, and trends and plans accordingly.
  • Develops action plans to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provides and promotes effective communications with customers.
  • Establishes training goals and requirements for all personnel.
  • Satisfies client, corporate, and contractual reporting requirements and needs.
  • Coordinates daily transit operations' dispatching, in-service monitoring, and turn-in activities.
  • Coordinates operations personnel selection, recruitment, and training with the Safety Manager.
  • Monitors, evaluates and addresses Operations activities. Included in the evaluation of activities are the following: Vehicle on-time statistics, missed runs, revenue/cost data, total work hours, total pay hours, customer-compliant data, accident data, road call data, other operations-related functions.
  • Recommends and disciplines operations and personnel.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulation.
  • Assesses resource needs, problems, and trends and plans accordingly.
 
Skills and Knowledge Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent business experience preferred.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Requires 3-5 years of recent and relevant transportation experience.
  • Must have evidence of building solid relationships with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Ability to effectively and appropriately communicate and/or collaborate with agencies, directors, elected officials, operators, and all levels of hourly and salaried employees, including senior management.
  • Must be a self-starter able to obtain successful results without supervision.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal state and local laws and regulations.
  • Ability to build solid and maintain strong working relationships with clients.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to details.
  • Experience in working with labor unions.
