Position Overview
An Operations Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of transit operations for the PM shift, overseeing dispatchers and operators, workflow, and operational efficiency by ensuring tasks are completed on time, adhering to company policies, time keeping and scheduling, and identifying areas for improvement while monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to optimize productivity and output; they will report directly to the Assistant General Manager.
Other key responsibilities are listed below:
- Operations Supervisor must meet Department of Transportation (DOT compliance. Supervising transport and managing vehicles within the department.
- Develop effective relationships with internal customers.
- Directly supervises dispatch personnel to ensure adequate productivity and accurate transportation and or facilitation of transit operations.
- Responsible for the daily supervision of up to 90 plus transit operators, scheduled routes, customer complaints, and
- Interviewing, evaluating & disciplining front line staff.
- Providing on-the-job training to subordinates.
- Time Keeping and Payroll processing
- Interpreting, implementing and auditing compliance for policies, procedures & practices
- Developing and maintaining daily work schedules, adjusting resource allocations as required.
- Works closely with General Manager and Assistant General Manager to coordinate all activities related to maintaining the smooth flow of operations, assignments, and equitable distribution of responsibilities for transit personnel.
- Knowledge of Passio system to ensure that operators are properly logged in and utilizing the communication system while operating transit units and transporting passengers.
- Makes recommendations relating to resource allocation and systems management.
- Develops & maintains effective working relationships with internal customers, staff, and other departments, including the Emory staff.
- Experience managing union-represented employee. Coordinate scheduling of all new hire and ongoing training activities to meet Linde and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Manage equipment resource availability while working with maintenance team to insure preventative maintenance in accordance with Linde requirements
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, associate’s degree required, in lieu of education at least 5 years operations experience in a safety sensitive environment inclusive of OSHA, MIS, FMSCA, FTA, DOT will be considered.
- Must have at least 3-5 years of public transportation experience.
- CDL required, with Passenger and Airbrake endorsement.
- 5+ years previous supervisory experience.
- Proven leadership and dispatch experience.
- Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possess good judgment and discretion. Superior communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Ability to use standard PC workstation and facility with use of all MS Office applications required; general knowledge of database technology preferred.
- Must possess ability to lead and motivate associates
- Detail and task oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
- Proven customer service and interpersonal skills a must.
- Must be a team player and possess the ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.
- Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
