Transdev in Crystal Lake, IL is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Bus Cleaner/Utility Worker to maintain the cleanliness of our vehicles and assist in maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have previous janitorial or auto detailing experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to handle various cleaning products and equipment.

Responsibilities:
- Performs maintenance cleaning of all fleet vehicles including servicing inside and outside of vehicles by cleaning and sweeping
- Performs the refueling of vehicles as needed, checks and maintains fluid levels including engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, etc.
- Removes and replaces fare boxes
- Maintains service lane in a clean, safe and orderly condition
- Assists maintenance personnel in fleet duties as needed
- Drives vehicles to state inspection facility for DOT testing
- Assumes additional responsibilities as required
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, required.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license with a minimum of one year of driving experience and a safe driving record.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must pass a drug test and DOT physical.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- A minimum of one-year previous experience in janitorial work with an emphasis on detailing vehicles is required.
- Good oral communication skills
- Ability to read and follow written and spoken instructions in English
- Ability to read, comprehend, and abide by Material Safety Data Sheets and all other safety training materials provided
- Ability to learn shop processes including fueling vehicles and cleaning vehicles
- Ability to mix and use a variety of cleaning products
- Ability to use a variety of equipment such as buffers, scrubbing machines, and other heavy cleaning equipment
- Strong attention to detail
Physical Demands:
- Less than 10% of work is indoors and in air-conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
- Greater than 90% of work is in a closed garage facility.
- Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, repetitive hand-wrist motion, legs, and moving the whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
- May be asked to lift and carry up to sixty pounds.
- May be exposed to cleaning chemicals; you have access to safety protective gear.
