Job Overview: 
The Operations and Maintenance Director will have overall responsibility for operations and maintenance, including the delivery of safe and reliable service, employee oversight, management of contract assets, risk management, client and customer satisfaction, and financial performance. This position is based in Seattle, WA. The salary range is $130,000-170,000.

Responsibilities:

  •  Lead and manage the operations and maintenance teams to achieve corporate safety goals, service performance, and financial objectives.
  • Oversee bus maintenance programs to ensure vehicles are safe, reliable, and meet regulatory standards.
  • Develop and implement action plans to improve operational efficiencies and maintenance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and Transdev corporate safety standards.
  • Manage budget and financial performance, optimizing the return on assets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employees, clients, union partners, and the community.
  • Identify and develop business growth opportunities.
  • Provide training and development for staff in liaison with the corporate team.
  • Ensure effective environmental compliance and sustainability management.
  • Compile, analyze, and report data accurately.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Transportation, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a management role within the transportation industry, including bus maintenance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws and transit regulations.
  • Experience with labor relations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation technology.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with union partners and manage labor grievances and negotiations. 
 
Skills and Knowledge Required: 
  • Requires 3-5 years of recent and relevant direct experience managing all aspects of a fixed-route service
  • Prior experience working with collective bargaining agreement
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments
  • Ability to build solid and maintain strong working relationships with clients
  • Ability to manage cost control and financial budget
  • Working knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of technology, apps, Wi-Fi, and understanding of transportation technology
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to organize and perform work efficiently, strong attention to details
  • Ability to work effectively with union partners, including labor grievances and negotiations
  • Travel requirement: <10%
