Overview of Position:
 
Performs skilled mechanical work as required to diagnose, maintain, repair, service and inspect Company operated vehicles and Maintenance of Way (MOW) “Off Highway” construction/railroad equipment to ensure the highest level of equipment availability and efficiency to Transdev Rail, Inc. personnel.
 
Our railroad maintenance division, Transdev Rail, Inc, provides an integrated suite of railroad maintenance, project oversight, and construction services.  This position is in south Florida, where Transdev Rail, Inc. employs a workforce of approximately 80 employees to maintain over 70 miles of track, bridges and structures, facilities and the right of way from Miami to Mangonia Park. 
 
 Compensation $120,000.00
 
Key Responsibilities:
·         Plans, organizes and supervises the mechanic staff and functions.
·         Responsible for overall fleet/equipment support and associated maintenance processes that include inspection, repair and pre/post servicing.
·         Ensures overall fleet condition and that equipment reliable and safe.
·         Provides hands-on maintenance assistance as needed.
·         Responsible for establishing maintenance related training sessions that improve overall fleet condition and operational knowledge of vehicle drivers, equipment operators and mechanics.
·         Repairs, troubleshoots, and installs component parts of MOW and Off Highway equipment.
·         Manages the preventive maintenance procedure of inspections to vehicles as required by applicable Federal, State and Local guidelines, which includes required records of inspections and repairs for DOT trucks.
·         Comply with all FRA and company mechanical policies per the appropriate Safety Rules and Safe Job Procedures.
·         Respond to all equipment failures based on company needs.
·         Maintain equipment records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections preformed on Transdev Rail, Inc. equipment.
·         Other duties as assigned by the General Manager or his/her designee.
 
Education, Licensing, and Certifications:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Must have a Commercial Drivers’ License and maintain it in good standing
 
 
Experience:
·         Minimum of 10 years of progressive hands-on experience in fleet management.  Preferred background with a wide array of construction and off-highway equipment and/or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
 
Skills and Knowledge Required:
·         Comprehensive knowledge of diesel and gas engines, automatic transmissions, airbrakes, hydraulics, electrical and be able to read and understand shop manuals and wiring diagrams.
·         Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
·         Prefer experience maintaining railroad.
·         Excellent oral and written communication skills.
·         Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
·         Valid CDL and clean driving record.
 
 
Pre-Employment Requirements:
·         Must successfully pass criminal background check, drug test, and physical examination.
 
 
Physical Requirements:
 
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, to lift objects weighing a minimum of 50 lbs. and must have the ability to distinguish colors and to hear warning signals, radio and telephone devices.
 
On-call 24/7, 365 days a year, with allowances for vacations, sick leave, and related time off.
