Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Branch Manager for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract.  The Branch Manager is responsible for planning, directing, controlling and evaluating operations and programs of the facility.

 Key Responsibilities:    
     
  • Supervises daily activities of all operators and coordinates the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel.
  • Oversees scheduling of Drivers, Dispatchers and Supervisors.
  • Monitors operations and coordinates delivery of service with the Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager; and provides daily reports.
  • Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and reports variance to the Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager.
  • Monitors department budgeted regular and exception time hours and reports variances to the Director of Operations, Assistant General Manager, and General Manager daily.
  • Responsible for On-Time Performance and timely yard departures.
  • Works closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure adequate availability of equipment.
  • Track, compile and analyze performance standards related to On Time Performance, Complaints, Missed Service, and other operational standards.
  • Handle interdepartmental issues; assists in the resolution of employee issues and grievances; improve processes and route scheduling.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all information.
  • Interact with the union representing the employees with the goal of positive interaction.
  • Ensure that service to Boston Public Schools remains on schedule and professional.
  • Issues discipline.
  • Works a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as required.
         
    Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required:     
    • A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.). 
         
    Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred:     
    • A Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 
         
    Experience Required:     
    • A minimum of 5 years of management experience.
      OR
    • A minimum of 3 years of passenger transportation management experience. 
         
    Experience Preferred:     
    • School Bus transit experience preferred. 
         
    Skills and Knowledge Required:     
    • Comprehensive knowledge of public management and organization theories, principles, practices and techniques. 
    • Thorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments. 
    • Thorough knowledge of basic laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operation. 
    • Ability to analyze a variety of complex administrative problems to make sound recommendations for their solutions and to prepare working procedures. 
    • Ability to work effectively with labor. 
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office. 
    • Strong communications and time management skills. 
    Travel requirement outside of immediate area (as a percent) <10%.
