Department: LIRR-Special Projects 
Location: 420 Lexington Ave. New York, NY 10170  
Position Title: Project Management, Emerging Talent Intern 
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate) 
  
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location. 
  
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT: 
Long Island Railroad (LIRR) Special Projects department manages the planning, design, construction, and implementation of the project for the benefits of our customers from their inception to successful completion, while adhering to the specific project's scope, schedule and budget. 
  
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
  • Assist in monitoring project milestones, documenting progress, and reporting performance to stakeholders. 
  • Assist in collecting, organizing, and distributing feedback, ensuring timely implementation of comments. 
  • Assist in recording meeting minutes, tracking action items, and following up on BIC.  
  • Assist in monitoring project timelines, budgets, and generating progress reports.  
  • Participate in safety training, promote safety awareness, and assist in ensuring compliance with safety protocols. 
  • Assist in conducting field visits to inspect project sites, resolve issues, and provide feedback to the team. 
  • Assist in developing and analyzing project budgets, monitoring expenses, and addressing cost discrepancies. 
  • Support procurement strategies, vendor selection, contract negotiations, and tracking timely deliveries.

  • Sustainability and Resiliency, Penn station Access & East River Tunnel (ERT) 
  
 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must. 
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.  
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively. 
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player. 
  
REQUIRED EDUCATION: 
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA  
  • Major(s) Preferred: Engineering, Computer Science, Project Management; or related field.
