Position Summary:
The incumbent is responsible for overseeing projects related to operations, including reviewing design drawings and construction documents to ensure alignment with customer and operational needs.
Responsibilities:
They will monitor projects across all phases, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders and smooth project phasing. Duties include attending regular status meetings, providing on-site field support, and utilizing project management tools for document tracking and submission. The role also involves evaluating projects for improvements, identifying design flaws and risks, and supporting issue resolution. Travel to all 472 stations for meetings is required, along with other tasks as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Architect I, II & III
A valid New York State Registration as an Architect. Current New York State Registration as an Architect must be maintained for the duration of your employment.
In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.
Assistant Architect
- A Bachelor or a Master of Architecture degree that is the first professional degree in architecture from an accredited college; or
- A Bachelor of Science degree in architecture that is the first four years of a five-year first professional degree program in architecture from an accredited college and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in architectural work; or
- A valid New York State Registration as an Architect.
The following are examples of four-year degrees that are NOT acceptable to meet the education requirement: Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology; Bachelor of Professional Studies in Architecture; Bachelor of Science in Fine Arts issued by the Architectural Department of a college; Bachelor of Science in Art and Design issued by the Architectural Department of a college.
Note: A Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York may be required for certain assignments. If required, this license must be maintained for the duration of the assignment.
Desired Skills:
In-depth knowledge of office facilities planning, programming, general design & construction process, building codes and modular/conventional office furniture systems. Review and analyzation of construction proposals, experience with leveling bids and construction administration. Proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, Access, and MS Project. Knowledge and experience with Facility & Space Management applications such as Archibus ImagineIt. Must have good communication skills when working with client representatives during the design phase of any project. Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously independently as a project manager.
Selection Method:
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview, and written assessment. All selected candidates will be subject to a full background investigation that includes employment and education. Discrepancies may lead to dismissal.
