Compensation:      
Salary Range (Grade C): $101,441 - $160,341   
UTLO Rate: $146,989      
       
Responsibilities:      
This role leads the development, testing, and implementation of the CBTC system, providing strategic direction and field support through all design and construction phases. Key responsibilities include coordinating construction schedules to minimize service impact, planning and executing CBTC test phases, and overseeing the design, installation, and approval of contingency operating modes.


The position manages all testing and commissioning activities, directs field surveys and inspections, and ensures the effective development and execution of test runs. Success in this role requires strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to work closely across multiple departments and operational groups to ensure aligned planning, smooth field implementation, and successful system integration.
Additional responsibilities include overseeing staffing and training for field locations, providing 24/7 support for software and database issues, and supporting the integration of new systems to enhance overall reliability. The role also provides leadership and oversight for departments that deliver direct operational support.

       

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field, and nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience, of which eight (8) years must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity;
OR
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

 
       
Desired Skills:      
Extensive experience in an operating environment and knowledge of the NYCT subway system. 
Knowledge of CBTC, ATS and other emerging transportation management technologies.
Knowledge of NYCT/Subways policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. 
Knowledge of business case analysis and cost-benefit analysis.
Excellent project management, problem solving, and decision-making skills. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.


Selection Method:      
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.      
       
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
