Position Title: Environmental Compliance, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Environmental Compliance and Management (EC&M) department ensures operational environmental compliance and supports fueling operations across MTA Bus and the NYCT Department of Buses organizations. EC&M serves 28 depots and central maintenance facilities located throughout the five boroughs of New York City and Westchester.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inventories greenhouse gas-containing facilities equipment.
- Creates and updates environmental asset layouts utilizing AutoCAD or equivalent software.
- Coordinates inspection efforts with facility managers and other Plant and Equipment personnel.
- Assists in audit preparation by obtaining and organizing relevant data and reports.
- Tracks corrective actions related to deficiencies identified during inspections.
- Assists in preparation of diesel fuel quality data reports.
- Prepares updates to facility emergency response plans.
- Attends facility walkthroughs at bus depots with EC&M staff.
PROJECTS:
- NYS DEC greenhouse gas registration inventory.
- Environmental asset layout update project.
- Corrective action tracking project.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA.
- Major(s) Preferred: STEM (engineering, physical sciences, environmental sciences), or related field.
