Position Summary:
This position is responsible for managing and overseeing special projects for the NYCT Department of Subways (DOS). The Senior Director, Subways Coordination & Solutions, will provide executive support to the EVP of Subways and act as a key participant on the management team. This role will provide oversight, offer recommendations, and interact with all division heads, as well as with other NYC Transit departments, on various operational issues and projects. The Senior Director will chair high level meetings with the EVP's direct reports to evaluate issues and to strategize for risk mitigation.
This position will also serve as the Subways' liaison for MTA Headquarters managed initiatives, emerging fare evasion preventive projects and other advanced control solutions. In addition, this position will manage and direct all administrative, financial, and operational activities for the EVP, and perform on-site field inspections to observe daily operations, maintenance performance and capital construction activities. Additionally, the Senior Director will develop operational policies and procedures to ensure consistency across the divisions.
Responsibilities:
- Manages and oversees special projects such as the implementation of OMNY throughout our stations, Emergency Booth Communication Systems (EBCS) upgrades and software, EEPS technology (Staten Island Railway). Interacts with internal and external customers by working with the Department of Security's counter-terrorism taskforce and the Rail Traffic Controller software
- Chairs high level meetings with the SVP's direct reports to evaluate issues and strategies in order to mitigate risks regarding service disruptions and community issues. This involves working on personnel solutions including, but not limited to, spearheading initiatives to reduce workplace assaults, improving employee availability, and working with trauma-impacted employees. Follows up and addresses outstanding issues which may include system defects such as system-wide structural issues and addressing PTSB (Public Transportation Safety Board) findings regarding fan plant communication deficiencies and CCTV issues in train cars.
- Serves as DOS liaison for MTA HQ and MTA IT managed initiatives and projects such as the Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise and the Genius Challenge/Transit Tech Lab. Work with diverse communities within Department of Subways to address how new technologies and initiatives are implemented using an equity and social impact lens.
- Performs on-site field inspections to observe daily operations, maintenance performance and capital construction activities. Reports on status, potential schedule impacts and ways to improve customer experience. Investigates any operational efficiencies that can include the coordination of work due to track outages and consolidation of TA Labor support.
- Develops operational policies and procedures to ensure consistency across the divisions. Oversees the development of the long-term planning for Subways’ operations to effectively anticipate and fulfill changing service requirements and needs; including the social services and benefits which will better enable our employees to perform their duties in a supported way.
- SVP, Chief of Staff & Organizational Strategies, Subways EVPs, Subways Division Heads; Office of the President; Strategic Initiatives; Department of Security, MTA C&D, MTA HQ, MTA IT, Office of System Safety, Labor Relations, People Group and outside agencies.
Education and Experience:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- Ten (10) years of related experience and seven (7) years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity are preferred

Selection Method:
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
