Job Summary:  
This position is responsible for directing the maintenance operations for all Automated Fare Collection (AFC) equipment installed in one of the four boroughs in the subway system and at certain out-of-system locations. In this capacity, the selected candidate will ensure that all AFC equipment, including OMNY, within the assigned borough meets its operational requirements for availability and reliability. This encompasses managing the performance of service calls, preventive maintenance, software installations and hardware modifications and upgrades through a maintenance workforce dispatched from field offices located within the assigned borough. The selected candidate has primary responsibility for all aspects of operations within the assigned borough, including long range/strategic planning, labor relations, human resources, materials management and safety.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Directs the maintenance, repair, and security of AFC equipment within the assigned borough, including turnstiles, OMNY Readers, OMNY Vending Machines (including OMNY Configurable Vending Machines), OMNY Express Machines, High Entrance Exit Turnstiles (HEETs), ADA Farecard Access System (AFAS), station controllers, and token booth equipment.
  • Plans and oversee the deployment of AFC maintenance resources to meet subway operational needs. This includes scheduling and executing preventive maintenance programs, software enhancements, and hardware upgrades while ensuring all work is completed within budget.
  • Establishes and implements accountability measures to monitor maintenance activities and prepares weekly and monthly reports on the effectiveness and efficiency of maintenance programs. Identifies and drives operational improvements.
  • Manages the development and implementation of updated maintenance procedures and related employee training programs to support an enhanced maintenance management system.
  • Oversees support functions for the assigned borough within the Subways maintenance subdivision, including labor relations, human resources, procurement, maintenance materials forecasting, and safety programs.
Education and Experience: 
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in business administration or a related field, and eight (8) years of full‑time satisfactory professional experience in a related area. At least five (5) years of this experience must have been in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
