COMPENSATION:  
 $90,590.00 - $128,239.00/Grade E   
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:  
    
This position is responsible for managing a team of engineering personnel to evaluate outside contractor rail equipment for use on NYCT’s wayside and infrastructure. These duties are carried out in support of MTA C&D capital programs and internal NYCT projects to maintain the wayside/infrastructure in a state of good working order and facilitate improvements such as modern signaling installations. This position will require technical and field evaluations of contractor equipment to ensure conformance to interdepartmental Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) to maintain safe introduction and operation of specialized equipment within NYCT’s operating environment.
 
This work is critical to maintain contract schedules while maintaining the highest levels of safety. The incumbent will also prepare technical requirements, master plans, etc. for specialized work equipment contracts and projects.
    
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Mechanical Engineering or a satisfactory equivalent and six (6) years of satisfactory related experience, and three (3) years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity.  
 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.
 
DESIRED SKILLS:
 
  • Knowledge of contractor's rail vehicles deployed in the Transit capital contracts.
  • Knowledge of Car Equipment and Line Equipment Clearances, inspection and testing of contractor's rail vehicles and specialized work car equipment.
  • Knowledge of specification development and project management.
SELECTION METHOD: 
 
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview. All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
