This position is eligible for teleworking, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective hire date.

Position Objective:
The Manager, HRBP – Workforce Relations provides comprehensive human resources support across multiple headquarters functions. This role partners closely with the Director to design and implement effective employee relations strategies that foster a fair, consistent, and respectful workplace. The incumbent offers seasoned guidance on complex employee relations issues, ensures compliance with organizational policies and collective bargaining agreements, and builds strong partnerships with operational and field leaders.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic HR partner to leadership, providing counsel on workforce relations matters.
- Investigate and resolve employee disputes, complaints, and workplace concerns in alignment with company policies and legal requirements.
- Advise on performance management, probationary evaluations, and disciplinary actions, including terminations.
- Support audits, Inspector General (IG) investigations, and compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement employee engagement initiatives and respectful workplace programs.
- Ensure adherence to collective bargaining agreements and maintain positive labor relations.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with operational departments and field leaders to drive organizational effectiveness.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong labor relations experience is highly desired.
- In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and labor relations practices.
- Proven experience conducting investigations and resolving complex employee issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Must have ability to handle confidential matters and information, strong judgement acumen.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Business Administration and/or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on employee relations and workforce management
The Following is/are preferred:
- Master’s degree in business, human resources, or related field.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification preferred.
- Experience working with a unionized workforce.
- Familiarity with the MTA’s policies and procedures.
- At least 3 years in a managerial and/or leadership role.
- Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body.
Other Information
May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends)
Travel may be required to other MTA locations or other external sites.
