POSITON SUMMARY:
This position is accountable for the direction and execution of the Department of Buses' building and equipment maintenance program at DOB locations throughout New York City. Provide a safe and cost-effective working environment for all DOB personnel within policy guidelines and budgeted resources. Responsible for implementing and maintaining automated Building Monitoring Systems. Maintain unique facilities such as those designed to house CNG and articulated buses.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Direct the repair and maintenance of fixed equipment within DOB's facilities in the North or South region of DOB. Establish and monitor an effective preventive maintenance program which will result in reduced equipment down time and fewer safety incidents.
• Direct and assign requisite manpower for the completion of in-house construction projects and ensure projects are accomplished within schedule and budget constraints. Maintain automated building monitoring systems.
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining automated Building Monitoring Systems. Educate staff on utilization of such systems. Maintain unique facilities such as those designed to house CNG and articulated buses. Ensure personnel are aware of different features necessary in these specialized facilities.
• Ensure that the material procurement and operating contract programs are clearly defined and implemented. Ensure operating contract work is executed and accepted within scheduled time frames.
• Administer the labor relations agreements for Facilities and act as department officer at Step I hearings for both disciplinary matters and labor disputes. Participate in labor negotiations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Eight (8) years of related experience, including a minimum of four (4) years of managerial/ supervisory experience.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Strong knowledge in planning, organizing and problem solving.
- Previous experience in the title of Assistant General Superintendent Facilities
- Basic knowledge of all trade specialties.
- Knowledge of depot operations and rules, regulations and procedures.
- Must have excellent supervisory skills and have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- In depth Knowledge of budget, personnel management, contract development and administration.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
