JOB TITLE: Staff Nurse
SALARY: $80,644 - $ 90,725
DEPT/DIV: Occupational Health Services (OHS)
SUPERVISOR: Head Nurse
HOURS OF WORK: 8:00AM-4:30PM (or as required)
LOCATION: 420 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10170
SUMMARY:
This position will perform nursing assessments in clinical settings on all employees/candidates which include triage, vital signs, diagnostic tests (audiograms, EKG, Vision) and drug (Urine) and alcohol testing, emergency treatments as needed. This position ensures the medical assessment center operates smoothly and efficiently on a daily basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Calibrate all equipment daily at the beginning of each shift
- Perform all diagnostic tests
- Track, schedule, monitor all medical surveillance examinations, FRA exams and MNR
required exams
- Perform screening elements for FRA or federally mandated surveillance exams
- Coordinates the case management of non-Occupational and Occupational illnesses and/or injuries for MNR, MTA PD, and TBTA employees
- Data entry on all exams performed
- Perform drug and alcohol collections on employees/candidates as needed
- Prepare daily Laboratory Activity reports
- Assist with drug and alcohol testing of follow-up program participants
- Assist physicians with examinations/evaluations as needed
- Assist with development and implementation of wellness programs for MNR employees
- Orders supplies as needed
- Records test data into electronic Medical Records system
- Audit all data entries
- Administer Hepatitis B, Tetanus-Diphtheria and Influenza vaccines as needed
- Monitor temperature of vaccine refrigerator and records in daily logbook
- Provide emergency care to employees/candidates
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Advanced understanding of diagnostic tests and procedures (preferred).
- Must possess basic computer skills.
- Occupational Health experience (preferred).
- Ability to complete Breath and Alcohol Testing (BAT) certification course under DOT/FRA regulatory guidelines.
- Able to exercise proper judgment when resolving equipment malfunctions and staffing issues.
- Able and willing to provide sick and vacation leave coverage at various MTA OHS locations in NYC and surrounding areas.
- Willingness to work during off-hour tours if necessary.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented health care setting.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Requires a valid NY State Nursing License.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Staff Nurse.
- CPR-D certified.
- Phlebotomy skills.
