Job summary:
This position provides leadership and oversight to structural teams supporting the maintenance, repair, installation, inspection, and rehabilitation of NYC Transit yards and facilities. The role focuses on improving operations, maintaining infrastructure, and enhancing the appearance of employee facilities.
 
Responsibilities:
This position is accountable for managing the structural teams and various building trades responsible for maintenance, repair, installation, inspection, and rehabilitation of NYCT Transit yards and facilities, ensuring the continued physical integrity of these properties.  The selected candidate will lead and implement site-specific initiatives to improve operational efficiency, structural conditions, and the overall appearance of employee facilities.  The selected candidate will also be responsible for developing cost estimates, coordinating general orders and developing strategic and tactical plans to enable the division to utilize limited material and workforce resources.  In addition, the selected candidate will collaborate with managers within and outside the division to ensure compliance with safety protocols and establish work procedures.
 
  • Education and Experience:
    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent). Eight (8) years of full-time related experience, including at least five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role  -or-
  • A satisfactory equivalent of education and experience.

 

 Desired Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of MTA NYCT rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of construction trade, project management and maintenance management techniques 
  • Proficient in the use of EAM.
  • Understanding of construction processes and methodologies
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively direct, mentor, and evaluate subordinate supervisors and staff. 
  • Effective decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, analyze records, and provide clear guidance on training, discipline, and performance expectations. 
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and navigate specifications
Selection Method: 
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview. All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
