The Platform Controllers Unit is recruiting highly motivated Supervisors in the Department of Subways pertaining directly to customer service. Supervisors will be responsible for Platform Control Unit Conductors at various locations in the field. Platform Controller Supervisors will also be responsible for large event crowd management such as (not limited to) parades/sporting events/incident responses/General Orders/station Capital Project enhancements, etc.

Compensation
Note: You will maintain your current rate of pay.
Responsibilities
Supervisors must be knowledgeable of coordinating staff coverages and allocating personnel as needed. On a daily basis, you will be directly interacting with customers and making on the spot decisions that best suit the given scenario for customer service. Incident response PC teams will be required to assist all customers at a given location and expedite service disruptions as best as possible.
Platform Supervising may demand a physical need of standing and walking around for hours at a time. Contingency plans must be prepared and carried out in the event of a station shut down. Vocal announcements must be routinely made along with positive communications to the rest of the team to deliver the same messages. Supervisors must have extreme patience, self-control, and the ability to work alongside others under a high pressured and congested atmosphere. This role requires strong leaders for a team to understand and execute directions. Customer safety is a top priority which must be focused on in all versatile environments.
Eligibility
Open only to current NYC Transit employees in the title of Assistant Train Dispatcher and Train Dispatcher.
Desired Skills

- Knowledge of major events and their impact on Subways customer safety
Selection Method
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of Department of Subways’ employees on MaBSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
