Compensation
UTLO Rate: $146,989 (Grade C - 732 hay points)
 
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for directing all maintenance activities at a given Central Maintenance Facility (CMF) of New York City Transit or MTA Bus location. Accountable for supplying safe and reliable buses to allow for the daily delivery of reliable bus service for the riding public. This involves assisting in the developing, implementing and maintaining of strict budgets, managing a full-scale disciplinary and labor relations process, and directing managers and supervisors to accomplish production goals. Assist in the directing of the day-to-day facilities and equipment maintenance activities for the CMF or Support Fleet Services. Development of work block and processes for all shop activities. Oversight of Quality Control and Productivity incentive programs. Support Fleet Services (SFS)- monitor and schedule Scheduled Inspections, conduct safety walks, oversee Non-Revenue Vehicle scrap program, manage fleet recall/warranty issues, oversee Snow Fighter maintenance program.
 
Education and Experience
1. Seven (7) years of related experience, at least three (3) years of which must have been in a supervisory/managerial capacity.
2. Must have one (1) year of previous experience in the title of Superintendent Maintenance or an equivalent title; or
3. A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.
 
Desired Skills
  • The ability to manage a bus overhaul operation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bus/vehicle maintenance operations including preventative maintenance.
  • Knowledge of vehicle/equipment specifications (i.e. scope of work, as built drawings, etc).
  • In-depth knowledge of bus overhaul maintenance.
  • The ability to synthesize and analyze information used to make data driven decisions.
  • Strong delegation and prioritization skills.
  • The ability to make decisions rapidly and under pressure while being constrained by the availability of labor and equipment.
  • Knowledge of Central Maintenance Facility or Support Fleet Services Operations.
