JOB SUMMARY
Provide supervisory, administrative, technical and task project management skills as required to carry out the Tasks and Projects of the Production Planning Group.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and schedule programs and projects as assigned for M of E facilities and yards. Transmit and coordinate material needs to support the RCM A.D. and facilitate the execution the Maintenance Plan.
- Assist developing material requirements; and production and inventory control procedures to ensure material and tooling are available when projected and improve equipment reliability.
- Assist in evaluation and implementation of Shop Floor Control and Material Management Systems, such as SMART in M of E Shops to improve material availability.
- Evaluate and implement standardized procedures for reporting project and production statistics.
- Maintain and upgrade computer (PC) generated database systems for record keeping and production and forecasting analysis.
- Select, develop, and motivate staff and provide career development for team members. Provide effective coaching and counseling. Manage team and individual performance. Create a professional environment that respects individual differences and enables staff to develop and contribute to their full potential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of Maintenance of Equipment operations, methods, and procedures including material distribution systems controls and processes, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, excellent communications skills, knowledge MNR Material Procurement and Management processes, and Shop Floor Control Systems.
- Must have personal computer skills with working knowledge of Database systems such as Access, Excel and other similar software programs.
The following is/are preferred:
- Working knowledge of People-Soft and AMS.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education and/or technical credentials to include two (2) additional years of related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience of working in manufacturing, industrial or maintenance operations with exposure on quality, warranty, or process management engineering
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience OR Completion of the Metro-North Railroad Engineer-in-Training Program and two (2) years of supervisory competencies

- Actual salary offers may vary based on individual work experience. The annual salary range is subject to change and may be modified at the company’s discretion.
- Employees driving company vehicles will be subject to License Monitoring and must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MTA drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
