COMPENSATION: 
  
  • Mechanical Engineer I - $90,551.00
  • Mechanical Engineer II - $107,655.00
  • Mechanical Engineer III - $120,427.00
  
  
RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  
This position is critical to support the on-going R211 program providing engineering and technical support for design review and testing for Carbone mechanical systems including Car body Structure, Open Gangway, HVAC, Brakes, and Trucks. The incumbents will review and evaluate technical documentation including drawings, procedures, and test plans, participate in qualification testing and data evaluation, and provide technical support to the maintenance facilities from car delivery through contract closeout. 
  
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 
 
Mechanical Engineer I 
  • A valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer and one year in the last three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional or specific expertise within the discipline of mechanical engineering.  
Mechanical Engineer II 
  • A valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer and four years of full-time experience in mechanical Engineering with at least two years in the last five years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional or specific expertise within the discipline of mechanical engineering. 
Mechanical Engineer III 
  • A valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer and four years of full-time experience in mechanical Engineering with at least three years in the last four years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional or specific expertise within the discipline of mechanical engineering. 
  
DESIRED SKILLS: 
  
  • Experience in working with mechanical components/subsystems on NYCT revenue cars, including troubleshooting and failure
  • analysis.
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering standards and practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Must be available 24 hours/7 days a week to visit field locations in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Must be willing to travel.
