Responsibilities
The Ridership Analysis and Modeling Unit within the Division of Operations Planning leverages a wide variety of datasets to produce insights into ridership behavior and performance trends across both the bus and subway networks. The manager of this unit is responsible for maintaining and enhancing ridership models that estimate running times and demand for both short- and long-term service changes, while also tracking shifts in ridership patterns and working closely with planners to recommend service adjustments. In addition, the role oversees the design and maintenance of dashboards that monitor ridership, travel speeds, and operational performance, as well as the development and adoption of new technologies for collecting and estimating ridership data. The manager conducts travel impact analyses for subway service modifications and Bus Network Redesign projects, ensuring compliance with Title VI requirements, and leads efforts to modernize reporting to the National Transit Database (NTD). The position requires coordination between all groups within Operations Planning and as well as multiple departments throughout the larger MTA. Finally, the manager will supervise and mentor a team of analysts and foster their continued professional development while we build out new analytical tools.
 
Compensation
Salary range $103,721 - $146,827 HAYO D/634
 
Education and Experience
A baccalaureate degree required major fields of study: Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or other Statistics, Transportation Research or a closely related field; with 10 years of related experience of which 4 years must be in a supervisory/management/administrative capacity
 
Or a satisfactory equivalent of education and experience
 
Desired Skills
Strong travel demands modelling and data processing technical skills 
Polished presentation and writing skills and ability to craft narratives from quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Familiarity with MTA Datalake structures and datasets
Familiarity with schedule-making and planning procedures, route planning strategies, general business planning and technology project management. 
Knowledge of project planning/management, NYCT Subway & Bus operations, data gathering and analysis techniques, union related labor issues, NYCT rules and regulations. 
Experience managing a team of data analysts and modelers. 
Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate coordination among multiple groups within the MTA.
