Summary

 

The primary purpose of this position is to ensure all aspects of production controls are in place for MTA’s mid-range and legacy mainframe production environments and associated interactions with MTA’s data center.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Review, coordinate, and schedule all activities related to production batch cycles and job submissions.
  • Follow up with all failed jobs and coordinate with developers for a resolution to ensure a functional production environment.
  • Recommend and maintain procedures to enhance Information Technology’s production control function.    
  • Create and maintain production run sheets for a 24/7 environment.
  • Coordinate all activities related to annual Disaster Recovery drills.
  • Provide backup support for QA functions performed by the Assistant Manager, Quality Assurance.
  • Guide less senior technicians and staff in the performance of their tasks.
  • Plan, design, and engineer solutions and projects to be implemented within the section.

  

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or a minimum of 10 years’ experience overseeing production control in an IT environment. 
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience working with all disciplines of an IT department in a production control capacity.     

 

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of industry standard data processing, production control, and quality assurance IT concepts and functions. 
  • Strong knowledge of industry-standard ticketing tools, such as CA Service Desk.
  • Strong knowledge of the following: CICS, ZEKE, IBM Utilities, Control-M, and Windows.
  • Strong knowledge of all components of an IT environment.  
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and documentation such that business requirements can be performed with minimal training. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong team player, proactive, self-motivated, and able to initiate and work independently.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to less senior staff members.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Other Information

This is a resume-based position in the collective bargaining unit represented by the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) and will be governed by the terms of the associated TCU collective bargaining agreement for IT employees.  As such, candidates selected for this position will be represented by TCU and be on the MTA payroll.  In addition, candidates selected may be required to work at any MTA Agency location.
