COMPENSATION:

 

Salary Range: $81,780 - $115,240 / Grade F

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This position is responsible for the safe, efficient operation of the Railroad in compliance with established procedures and the Book of Rules. Incumbent will assist in providing training in various crafts and be available for emergency response. Must be available for call 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. Conduct disciplinary proceedings, as necessary, in compliance with the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreements. Incumbent must be able to interpret and apply provisions of various labor agreements. Ability to effectively interact with the public and outside agencies.

 

Supervise train dispatchers, agent/operators, conductors, engineers, and clerical staff. Train operating personnel, oversee terminal operations, respond to public dissatisfaction and problems by investigating complaints and resolving issues. Approve and verify records, time sheets, reports, etc. Conduct operational testing of operating employees. Direct the SIR safety function, including, the development of accident prevention programs, conducting on-the-site accident investigations, pre- and post-site safety investigations. Develop strategies to reduce accidents and associated costs. Recommend procedural changes to foster a safer workplace. Manage procedures to ensure compliance with safety rules and regulations.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Five (5) years satisfactory mass transit/railroad experience, of which two (2) years must have been in a supervisory/managerial capacity. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview, and written assessment.
