Position Title: Operations Support, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $21.00 (Graduate)
Overview of Department:
The Division of Operations Planning (OP) plays a key role in designing efficient and effective subway and bus service for New York City Transit. It monitors ridership trends and operational performance across the transit system and develops strategies to deliver the best possible service—balancing the needs of riders with operational, maintenance, construction requirements, and available resources.
The Service Data and Analysis Intern will support a range of tasks related to service data and automation. Key responsibilities include assisting with the migration of legacy applications to modern mobile platforms, providing technical support and documentation for internal reporting tools, gathering user requirements, developing database integration scripts, cleaning and analyzing data, and creating reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI.
Responsibilities:
Example duties to be performed by the Service Data & Analysis Intern include the following:
• Review previous design documents and existing applications
• Research best practices in mobile application development
• Provide weekly status reports on progress
• Participate in focus group meetings to gather feedback
• Develop multiple design drafts for mobile applications
• Build application prototypes upon design approval
• Create algorithms to upload data from mobile apps to designated databases
• Document all work completed and assist in user training sessions
Projects:

Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft (preferred, training provided)
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
Required Education:
- Matriculated in undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA or graduate program with at least a 2.8 GPA.
- Major(s) Preferred: Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Urban Studies, Public Policy, Public Affairs, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
