What You’’ll Do:

  • Manage a staff of directors/senior directors by clearly conveying department goals and expectations, assigning/monitoring work, and provide recognition for results and training
  • Delegate work assignments by matching the responsibility appropriately
  • Be the escalation point for resolution of project implementation issues and conflict resolution
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of department process standards, tools, and resources, including training staff members
  • Assist with content development when needed to support your team and business objectives
  • Maintain familiarity with current industry practices and regulatory requirements and guidelines that affect medical education world-wide
  • Serve as internal consultant to sales, clinical strategy, and operation leadership teams on best practices for content development
  • Report to senior management regularly regarding department status
  • Continuously identifying opportunities for process improvement
  • Travel in support of all of the above responsibilities (~20% post pandemic; remote during pandemic)

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • An advanced medical degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) or a Bachelor of Science degree (life sciences, public health, or clinical sciences) with relevant experience
  • At least 10 years’ experience as a medical writer and/or editor for a medical education/communications company, professional medical publisher, or academic institution/hospital/university center, medical society
  • At least 5 years’ experience managing others
  • Content development experience neurology or psychology preferred
  • Excellent editorial (editing and writing) skills in the area of online publishing and text manuscript development; familiarity with AMA style
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (English; additional languages a plus)
  • Knowledge of ACCME standards
  • Strong problem-solving skills to independently and quickly deal with unforeseen issues to ensure that timelines are consistently met
  • Excellent computer skills that includes working remotely on shared networks and cloud-based systems, and a high degree of proficiency using Goggle and Microsoft Office suite required; web-based data and document sharing sites and authoring tools (SharePoint, Read Cube, Accent Librarian, EndNote) a plus
  • Experience with web-based project management tools (such as Workfront, MS Project) highly preferred
  • High professionalism and easy rapport in building collaborative work relationships
