Senior Manager, Software Development - Flow Networking

The Networking team at Nutanix is looking for an engineering manager with a strong technical background to help build our cloud networking initiatives.  Engineering managers are expected to provide technical leadership for major projects and manage a team of talented and motivated engineers. 

You will lead your team to design and deliver highly scalable networking services, including virtual networking infrastructure, firewall, load balancer, VPN, and monitoring.  You will play an active role in defining product strategy, driving architectural decisions, and managing your project goals.  You will be collaborating with engineering teams across the company in areas such as compute and storage orchestration, telemetry, security, user experience and user interface design, application orchestration, and infrastructure engineering.  As a manager, you are expected to guide your team in developing scalable solutions that are delivered in a timely fashion.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in leading networking software engineering teams
  • Experience with datacenter networking technologies
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and setting technical priorities
  • Experience with Agile methodologies
  • Familiarity with development of virtualized networking services (such as firewalls, load balancers, monitoring tools)
  • Familiarity with Open vSwitch (OVS), OVS DPDK, and Open Virtual Network (OVN)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Proven technical leadership in large-scale software deployment using open-source technologies
  • Hands-on experience with developing and delivering virtualized networking services (such as firewalls, load balancers)
  • Hands-on experience with Open vSwitch (OVS), OVS DPDK, and Open Virtual Network (OVN)
  • Experience with cloud network services, such as elastic load balancers, firewalls, VPN, etc.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (vSphere (ESX), Hyper-V, or KVM) and storage space
  • Familiarity with a broad mix of technologies such as Zookeeper, Cassandra, Docker, Kafka, OpenStack, Kubernetes
