Compensation:
Salary: $141,664 (UTLO compression rate)
- Salary is non-negotiable and based on the United Transit Leadership Organization (UTLO) Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Summary:
The Superintendent, Transportation is responsible for ensuring the daily delivery of safe, reliable, courteous, and on‑schedule bus service across assigned routes and depots.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Direct and oversee daily transportation operations supporting the depot and Road to ensure the safe, reliable, efficient, and customer-focused delivery of bus service; manage service performance, schedule adherence, staffing, crew assignments, resource allocation, and the deployment of supervisory personnel to address operational challenges, service disruptions, emergencies, traffic conditions, detours, and special events.
- Coordinate with the Command Center, Maintenance, and other operating and support divisions to ensure operational readiness and continuity of service; conduct operational reviews, field observations, investigations, and performance analyses related to safety, service delivery, customer concerns, accidents, employee performance, and compliance with agency policies and collective bargaining agreements, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Coordinate and oversee labor relations activities, including administration of collective bargaining agreements, grievance resolution, disciplinary actions, and union-related matters. Support labor negotiation efforts by helping establish depot/ Road objectives and serving as a liaison between the division/command center and union representatives.
- Develop and manage supervisory picks; implement schedule variations and monitor and uphold on-time performance standards.
- Manage the development and implementation of quality control, safety, and training programs in support of depot / Road operations.
- Support and collaborate with Quality Performance and Training divisions; incumbents may rotate between these units as needed.
- Analyze operational performance data and develop corrective action plans.
Education and Experience:
- Five (5) years of related experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/managerial experience; or
- A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.
Desired Skills:
- Strong experience in bus transportation operations, including dispatching functions.
- Proven ability to manage a large, complex organization effectively.
- Demonstrated capacity to make rapid, well‑informed decisions in high‑pressure or fast‑paced environments

Other Information:
- To be eligible for consideration for a new role, current MTA employees must complete at least one year of service in their current role. Additionally, eligibility to interview is contingent upon maintaining a satisfactory record of job performance, attendance, and disciplinary conduct.
