Compensation:

Salary: $141,664 (UTLO compression rate)

  • Salary is non-negotiable and based on the United Transit Leadership Organization (UTLO) Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Summary:

The Superintendent, Facilities is responsible for overseeing preventive maintenance, repairs, and project management activities for fixed and non‑fixed equipment across the Department of Buses facilities throughout New York City. This position is responsible for the effective administration of these programs through both in-house forces and contracts administration, resulting in safe and cost-effective facilities. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct oversight of the preventive maintenance program, ensuring proper manpower allocation, strong quality control, and minimal equipment downtime.
  • Manage automated Building Monitoring Systems and supervise maintenance activities for specialized facilities, including CNG facilities and articulated fleet-support locations.
  • Partner with depot management to prioritize and schedule work orders for planned and special projects, giving the highest priority to safety and service-critical conditions.
  • Administer project management functions for operating contracts, from scope development through final inspection and acceptance.
  • Coordinate with Capital Engineering on capital project staging, scope alignment, and facility impacts.
  • Administer labor agreement practices, handle disciplinary matters, and support employee coaching and development.
  • Accountable for safety across all assigned locations, including identifying unsafe conditions and ensuring timely correction of hazards and violations. Serves as a liaison with the System Safety team and the Department Safety Officer

Education and Experience:

  1. Five (5) years of related experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/managerial experience; or
  2. A satisfactory equivalent of the combined education and experience requirements.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of building maintenance and preventive maintenance procedures
  • Understanding of pay practices, material costs, building trades, NYCT labor contracts, and construction final inspection procedures
  • Knowledge of depot operations
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Supervisory skills with the ability to lead multiple projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Selection Method:

Based on evaluation of education, experience, and interview.
