$116,641 to $145,800

Summary

Engineering Manager Level 2 will be involved in all phases of an MTA C&D project lifecycle, including planning, scheduling, analysis, design, technical specifications, and reports.  The role will entail some of these typical duties:

 

Responsibilities

Designs/supervises various aspects of a project for MTA infrastructure.

Performs mechanical engineering technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historic data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative mechanical engineering design projects.

 

Reviews all mechanical engineering and related work throughout the entire phases of projects.

 

Works with manufacturers to identify and ensure designs comply with requirements and constraints of the equipment and material.

 

Conducts site visits to obtain existing conditions and properly identify design and construction risks.

 

Plans and coordinates required permitting and approval documentation that supports their designs.

 

Develop project delivery packages (such as various design documents, drawings, presentations, calculations) to support both design-build and design-bid-build projects.

 

Manages a small team of design engineers.

 

Embraces mentoring from senior staff.

 

Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the discipline.

 

Coordinates and works collaboratively with in-house architecture and engineering disciplines and various stakeholders.

 

Coordinates with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.

 

Education and Experience

 

Bachelor of Science degree in the Mechanical or Fire Protection Engineering discipline.

 

Must have a minimum of eight (8) years related experience. Experience designing and supporting installation of HVAC systems and fire suppression systems.

 

Must have a minimum of four (4) years in a management or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.

 

Competencies:

 

Registered NYS Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.

 

Experience performing site inspections, documenting site conditions and construction activities, coordinating with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and responding to contractor requests for information.

 

Knowledge of applicable industry and NYS building and design codes and standards.

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Must have focus and ability to deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

 

Must possess excellent team building, listening, problem solving, and prioritization skills.

 

Proficiency in current design and engineering software (MicroStation) and Microsoft Office is required.

 

Has experience in interpreting engineering reports and analysis.

 

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee culture is a must.

 

Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines.

 

Knowledge of the capital design and construction process.
