Position Title: Operations Analyst- Maintenance of Way, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $21.00 (Graduate)
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Operations Control Center (OCC) – Maintenance of Way (MOW) is the central command hub that coordinates all track and infrastructure maintenance work across the MTA subway system. The team supports Superintendents and senior officials on the operations floor and manages incident response, equipment tracking, and daily maintenance coordination.
The intern will support the OCC – MOW team with project management, data, automation, and digital tool work that improves daily operations. They will help build SharePoint sites, Power Automate flows, and Monday.com boards used by the team. The intern will also assist with operational support and gain hands-on exposure to a live transit control center.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and update SharePoint sites, Microsoft Lists, and Monday.com boards.
- Help create and test Power Automate flows and small AI automations.
- Clean, organize, and migrate data from Access into the cloud.
- Build and maintain relationships with the multi-team contractors.
- Support Superintendents on the operations floor with data and system requests.
- Submit IT tickets and track system access requests.
- Maintain BETS data entry, distribution lists, and training records.
- Document workflows and present a final project at the end of the internship.
PROJECTS:
- Use Monday.com to coordinate with officials and manage projects.
- Build Power Automate flows and small AI automations to replace manual data entry tasks.
- Manage SharePoint sites & Power BI dashboards to track incident response, weekend coverage, and equipment status for leadership.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
- The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
- The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Matriculated in a graduate program in good standing with at least 2.8 GPA
- Major(s) Preferred: Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
