Software Program Manager (Technical) - Enterprise Applications
The Creativity and Productivity business group within Logitech builds peripherals that customers know and love. A large number of these devices are deployed into corporations big and small - both in offices and in the homes of their employees. To better meet the needs of the IT Admin in these companies, we want to make our devices a whole lot more manageable. We are looking for a program manager to help lead this effort. If you are an individual who understands the enterprise really well and wants to broaden their horizons into consumer software, this is the role for you.
In this role you will work with our product and design teams to figure out what it takes to build hardware-software solutions that can be deployed, managed and monitored in the context of an enterprise. To enable this, you will need to work across our technology stack - firmware, software and cloud software, which is built by 3 different teams across the US, India and Switzerland. You will also have to ensure that our products work with third party configuration and monitoring solutions.
We look for the following 3 skills in our program managers:
Product and Design sense - you will be a close collaborator and sparring partner for our product managers and designers. In order to succeed at this, you need to be able to come up with and critique product, feature and design ideas to ensure that product requirements and designs are technically feasible.
Technical Chops - you will need to be able to work with architects, technical leads and developers to identify the technical work needed in order to realize the product vision, author technical specifications, runs PoC’s, identify new technical enablers and drive technical execution. In order to do this you need to be able to have conversations at the system level and also dive deep into modules to ensure that the right technical trade offs are being made.
Project Management - you will need to manage one or more projects simultaneously. Some of these projects will span business groups. To be able to pull this off you will need to be a solid project manager with variety of project management tools in your belt.
Partner with our business, software engineering, hardware engineering and design teams to define the right vision for our software experiences, keeping in mind the end to end customer experience spanning software and hardware.
Author clear functional specifications and leverage this to drive the right UX design, technical software architecture & test strategy.
Create realistic project plans, drive execution and communicate status clearly.
Champion engineering excellence initiatives like TDD, CI/CD, better agile processes etc.
Ensure that we make the right trade offs keeping in mind the needs of our customers and our business.
Keep an eye on the big picture - you will be responsible for multiple projects, each of which will be executed from multiple locations around the world. You will also coordinate with partners in the hardware and firmware engineering organizations.
Understand our product roadmap and proactively identify hard problems ahead of time and drive prototyping efforts.
We use agile to meet the unique needs of a globally distributed engineering team that spans design, hardware, software and firmware. You will serve as scrum master and bring your experience managing projects to bear at continuously improving our process.
10+ years of experience managing the full life cycle of multiple applications at a software company that caters to enterprise customers.
Experience meeting enterprise requirements - making solutions that are secure, manageable, monitorable, integrates well into the enterprise IT tools and workflows
Demonstrate the imagination and customer empathy required to work with design and engineering to translate high level PRDs into use cases, functional specifications and UI designs.
The technical muscle to foresee issues and debate with engineers the relative merits of competing design options.
Prior experience managing multiple complex cross team projects using the agile methodology in a geographically distributed scenario.
Experience managing risk, accommodating change and managing trade offs.
Strong leadership, negotiation and communication skills. Experience leading by influence rather than authority.
BS/MS in computer science or prior experience as a software engineer
Anywhere in the continental USA. Must be willing to work in the pacific standard time zone.
Candidates not in the San Francisco bay area will require travel to the bay area. International travel (to Europe, India, the far east) will be required from time to time.
