The Team and Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firmware Technical Manager to join our Audio Cluster team within Hardware Engineering, specializing in the development of Gaming Audio products.

The Firmware Technical Manager is responsible for developing and optimizing firmware solutions for our state-of-the-art Wireless or USB headsets. The expertise will be critical in ensuring the seamless integration of firmware with our innovative audio technologies.

  • Develop and drive the design, development, and debugging of firmware solutions for Wireless 2.4GHz, Bluetooth or Wired USB headsets, including audio processing, connectivity, battery management, and device integration.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to define system requirements and specifications, ensuring firmware compatibility and seamless integration with headset components.
  • Implement and optimize firmware architectures and algorithms to deliver superior audio quality, low latency, and reliable connectivity.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of firmware designs, adhering to industry standards and best practices, and addressing compatibility across various platforms.
  • Work closely with software developers to integrate firmware with higher-level headset applications and software stacks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex firmware-related issues throughout the development and production process.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables.
  • Lead and mentor the FW teams from JDM/ODM company if required, providing technical guidance, support, and performance management.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and standards in Bluetooth or USB audio, firmware engineering, and the headset industry.

Key Qualifications:

For consideration, you must bring the following minimum skills and experiences to our team:

  • 7 years of experience in firmware development, with demonstrated expertise in Bluetooth or USB headsets.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, and firmware architectures.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages and experience with embedded systems development tools and environments. Solid understanding of audio processing algorithms, audio codecs, and audio hardware interfaces.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth technology and protocols (e.g., Bluetooth Low Energy) or USB standards (e.g., USB Audio Class) as applied to headsets.
  • Experience with BT sniffer, USB protocol analyzer and logic analyzer.
  • Experience with battery management and power optimization in portable devices.
  • Solid understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS) and device drivers.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex firmware issues.
  • Strong experience with Git or other version control systems for managing firmware codebase, tracking changes, and collaborating with the firmware team.
  • Strong documentation skills to ensure clear and comprehensive documentation of firmware changes, releases, and versioning.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, working effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Good leadership and mentorship skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Having the experiences on Skyworks, Qualcomm or Airoha platforms is a plus.
