About the Position

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Technical Accounting, Product Operations to join our SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting team. The candidate will report to the Senior Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting and will have significant interactions with Global Operations (including Supply Chain and Logistics), Global Operations Finance, Business Group Finance, Global Cost Accounting, Region Controllership Tax, and Corporate FP&A.

This is a great role for the candidate who is interested in both technical accounting and operational accounting. The candidate will own the technical accounting for inventory and cost of goods sold (“COGS”) and play a critical role in operational accounting related to inventory (e.g. determining inventory reserves and monitoring policy compliance of all inventory-related activities). The role will have also opportunities to work on other accounting topics based on the candidate’s experience & interest and the team’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Build strong partnerships with cross-function teams including Global Operations, Global Operations Finance, Business Group Finance, Global Cost Accounting, Region Controllership, Tax and Corporate FP&A to provide accounting guidance, support the business and be an expert on all U.S. GAAP matters relating to inventory and COGS

  • Own and lead global inventory reserve process working closely with Business Group Finance and Global Operations management, and using quantitative and qualitative information to calculate inventory reserves

  • Lead technical accounting consultation and policy development/update initiatives related to inventory and COGS accounting topics including inventory reserves, warranty, duties/tariffs, technology licensing, carbon offsets, standard cost setting, etc.

  • Lead, evaluate, coach and develop inventory accounting team members

  • Research, evaluate, and prepare technical accounting memos for complex and non-standard transactions related to inventory and COGS

  • Work with cross-functional teams to monitor the compliance to and appropriate application of the Company’s policies related to all inventory-related activities and accounts (e.g. physical inventory counts, standard costing setting, cost accounting etc.)

  • Prepare and present the analysis on inventory reserves controllership and senior management to support business decisions

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements related to inventory and inventory reserve processes and lead the project to work with IT on ongoing system enhancements and/or automation

  • Assist with technical accounting research, consultation or projects/initiatives in accounting areas/topics other than inventory and COGS, as needed

  • Lead /participate in special projects and initiatives and support any ad-hoc requests from cross-functional teams

  • Perform processes and procedures to comply with SOX 404 control framework related to areas managed by this team

  • Assist in the company's internal/external audit

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business

  • U.S. CPA license required

  • Minimum 8-10+ years of progressive professional experience, preferably with a combination of public accounting and public company industry experience

  • Experience with technical accounting research and expertise in applying U.S. GAAP

  • Must have an experience with inventory, inventory reserve, and COGS accounting

  • Knowledge and experience with ASC 606 are preferred but not required

  • Strong data analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Strong communication and project management skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to establish strong partnerships/relationships and successfully work cross-functionally and cross-region

  • Experience in managing process and systems improvements preferred

  • Highly proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs

This position offers an annual base salary typically between $ 166,025 and $ 218,475.

In certain circumstances, higher compensation will be considered based on the business need, candidate experience, and skills.
