Media Relations Specialist

Do you have a reporter's instinct and experience in developing a comprehensive media strategy? Tyler Technologies is seeking a media relations specialist to manage, strategize and execute our media relations activities. You will write, edit, collaborate on, and manage external outreach materials, as well as serving as our internal consultant to Tyler divisions. Because we are a software company, materials may be technical in nature and require strong feature/benefit language. Responsibilities
- Writes and/or edits corporate press materials, including press releases, corporate backgrounders, corporate statistics, executive bios, etc., to ensure consistency of message and tone.
- Coordinates with division marketing leads to identify potential customer success stories and/or trade editorial opportunities.
- Maintains media lists for media relations activities.
- Prepare briefing documents for media interviews with company leadership and other internal subject matter experts.
- Looks for industry opportunities that increase company credibility, including industry speaking opportunities, professional associations, awards programs, etc.
- Develops media relations plans to support Tyler's overall business priorities, including defining key audiences and key messages, expectations, competitive climate, and intended results.
- Identifies and works collaboratively with subject matter experts to develop case studies, testimonials, bylined/editorial opportunities, etc.
- Works with events team and division marketing to determine how media relations tools can be used to impact trade events, user conferences, product lines, etc.
- Contributes to development of corporate key message platform to ensure message consistency across all channels of communication.
- Monitors media/press outlets for references to Tyler and/or its clients.
- Supports amplification of Tyler media coverage on social media and other owned channels.
- Supports work with Investor Relations team including earnings announcement preparation, as needed.
- Participates on special projects as needed as part of the strategic communications team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field
- Strong writing, proofreading, and editing skills
- 3+ years’ experience; media/public relations and/or agency experience preferred
- Basic understanding of public sector market
- Prior experience in a publicly traded company is helpful
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software and knowledge of AP Style
