Tyler Technologies continues a steady pace to adopt cloud platforms across multiple business units.  We are actively seeking an additional Senior Cloud Network Engineer to join our team.   The primary duties for this position include network architecture and design, hardware installation, initial configuration, and support of the network in our cloud infrastructures as required to exceed the needs of the Tyler’s business units.  The Senior Network Engineer serves as a primary point of contact for supporting cloud and datacenter network connectivity by designing, implementing, documenting and supporting custom government solutions. We expect candidates to be able to speak to the technicalities of their contributions on large/complex networking and cloud projects.  We want to know that you can help us seamlessly migrate our customers to a new, secure, fast, and highly available environment.  We want to know that you can automate tasks and alleviate the toil of voluminous individual environments to the cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance and take steps to ensure efficiency and up-time requirements are met and sustaining strict client SLAs for application delivery / high availability.
  • Maintain records necessary for audit compliance, including but not limited to FIPS, CJIS, & FedRAMP
  • Responsible for documentation and the education of team members and business partners.
  • Optimize existing deployments while focusing on efficiencies and optimizations that will support our solutions and their forward growth and development.
  • Promote best practices for implementation, maintenance, and security of all networks.
  • Act as primary point of contact for advanced troubleshooting, problem resolution of network connectivity and configuration issues.
  • Work directly with IT and Dev Ops teams to develop, build, implement and support automation using tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • This position will require the applicant to participate in an on-call rotation and in some cases required to be available in case of after hour escalations and maintenance.
  • This position is subject to periodic maintenance to be performed outside of business hours. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or equivalent experience
  • IT certifications such as AWS CSA-P, AWS Advanced Networking, CCNA/CCNP, and/or CISSP desired
  • Typically requires 3-5 years of practical experience support in Cloud Networking experience and 5-8 years of traditional networking including VPN, TCP/IP, routing, and application delivery.
  • Holistic understanding of network components and systems integration
  • Experience with network design and topography
  • Working knowledge and experience with cloud environments, design, limitations, and optimizations. AWS strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of cloud-based network orchestration and automation tools like Terraform or Ansible.
  • Prior experience with multiple cloud-based deployments of network infrastructure including automation of deployments.
  • Experience with cloud based cross account communication including AWS Direct Connect, Transit Gateway and VPC peering
  • Proficient AWS Cloud Networking expertise: VPN, BGP, DNS, VPC, Transit/NAT/Internet Gateways, Routing Tables, etc. With a heavy focus on VPN technologies.  
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to deliver clear and concise runbooks, network diagrams and other types of documentation.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced, technical environment.
