Product Owner - Payments Devices Team
Description
We are looking for someone with a passion to work with the development team to enhance our customers' ability to make seamless and trouble-free in-person credit card payments for government services. The devices team, part of the payment’s product vertical with the Digital Solutions Division, is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates to take on product ownership responsibilities for the devices team.
The Product Owner plays a critical role in both managing the day-to-day product related priorities of the application and for helping shape the future direction of the product. In this role, candidates will be joining a multi-discipline team of domain experts, software developers and quality assurance specialists all focused on delivering world class functionality and reliability to a substantial customer base and large prospect pool.
The ideal candidate for this position should excel at working with other senior level stakeholders to develop cross application integration opportunities, have extensive customer facing experience and skill sets to assume customer/user advocacy responsibilities and, over time, formulate a coherent vision for the product that is fully aligned with the Tyler’s overall Revenue Management vision for the Payments product suite. Will work on and take responsibility for a critical piece of Tyler’s solution suite of payment processing and revenue management functionality, utilized by an extensive nationwide group of federal, state and local agencies.
Responsibilities
The Product Owner will be heavily involved in every stage of the product management lifecycle, described below:
- Research market problems
- Conduct onsite and virtual visits to client sites
- Conduct interviews with clients and prospects
- Attend industry conferences and user gatherings
- Research competing products and organizations
- Prioritize problems to solve
- Evaluate incoming requests, requirements, and suggestions
- Maintain a backlog of planned development work
- Organize releases of product features
- Validate priorities and plans with stakeholders
- Design solutions to problems
- Communicate requirements as epics and stories
- Consult with designers on mockups and prototypes
- Consult with engineers on technical solutions
- Validate designs and requirements with stakeholders
- Deliver solutions to the market
- Guide development and testing of new features
- Document features and functionality for future reference
- Demonstrate and train features for stakeholders
- Validate features with early adopter clients
- Drive adoption of solutions
- Measure adoption and usage in the target market
- Assist in sales demonstrations, webinars, and proposals
- Advocate through marketing campaigns and community messaging
- Participate in Tyler conferences and events
Qualifications
- Experience working with local government financial or receivable departments
- Experience with payment collection solutions
- Experience working in a customer-facing role, preferably in gathering requirements for software development
- Understanding of the software development life cycle, especially agile methodologies
- Understanding of software design principles, especially user centered design
- Proficiency communicating in written, verbal, and presentation form
- A track record demonstrating analytical and problem-solving skills, an attention to detail, strong time management skills and the ability manage multiple work tasks effectively
- Ability to excel in the following capacities: independently as a sole contributor, as an integrated contributor in a team setting, and as active participant in a cross functional setting.
- Ability to travel to client sites, conferences, and Tyler offices, as needed
