Tyler Technologies is currently seeking applicants for a Windows Systems Administrator to support our Digital Solutions Division.  This is a hybrid position which requires visiting one of the listed office locations at least twice a week.

This position regularly makes decisions that are within limits set by professional standards, the agency’s available technology and resources, and program objectives and regulations established by a higher management level; choices involve determining the process, including designing the set of operations. The general pattern, program, or system exists but must be individualized. This individualization requires analysis of data that is complicated. This may require analysis by breaking the problem or case into parts, examining these parts, and reaching conclusions that result in work processes. This examination requires the application of known and established theory, principles, conceptual models, professional standards, and precedents to determine their relationship to the problem.
The Windows System Administrator position is responsible for provisioning, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining Windows systems and surrounding infrastructure.  They will be responsible for troubleshooting system-related issues, any hardware and software maintenance to support the applications, and replacing legacy systems/applications as they go end-of-life in an ever-changing environment.  It is important that applicants Windows operating systems, as well as virtualization, along with modern DevOps tools, practices and concepts.
The ability to work closely with a small, close-knit team and the ability to take ownership of processes are imperative.  This individual will also be able to work well with other teams, identifying what’s best for the greater organization, is self-motivated and can take ownership of processes and see them through. The Windows System Administrator may take part in an on-call rotation along with the other system administrators.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 & 2 Windows server technical support and troubleshooting for teams across the organization.
  • Provide maintenance and support of critical application environments hosted on virtualized Windows Server platforms.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and maintain applications on Windows Server 2016 (and above) servers.
  • Respond to trouble tickets generated by internal clients.
  • Provide support to internal clients via MS Teams, phone and/or email.
  • Compile detailed documentation on new and existing architecture.
  • Implementation of system changes to meet security compliance and business requirements.
  • Resolution of Incident tickets in accordance with SLA.
  • Manage assigned project activities to achieve stated project goals, objectives, and schedules.

Qualifications

  • A B.S. in Information Science/Technology, Computer Science, or related technology degree desired.  Candidates must also have 5+ years of experience in Windows system administration or a related administrative roll.
  • In-depth experience working with Windows Server 2016, 2019, and/or 2022.
  • Working knowledge configuring and troubleshooting IIS.
  • Troubleshooting .NET Framework and .NET Core web applications and services.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Understanding of VMWare and virtualization.
  • Strong understanding of LAN and WAN networking principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of networking and web protocols, including HTTP and DNS, and network traffic management and routing protocols.
  • Strong understanding of load balanced environments and familiarity of common configuration techniques.
  • Desire to troubleshoot problems and take ownership of their solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities are also required, as complex issues must be resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work in a team environment or independently.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability and desire to thrive in a high-pressure, client-service, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, combined with strong customer service skill and a positive disposition.
Bonus Experience
  • Remote work experience, including working with various teams in multiple time zones.
  • AWS and/or Azure cloud experience.
  • Basic Linux administration experience.
  • Experience working in a Hybrid Cloud environment, with knowledge of AWS, Azure AD, Azure AD Connect, Azure Identity Platform, and 365.
  • Windows AD, GPO’s, DNS, DFS, SCCM, SCOM.
  • Application Performance Monitoring (New Relic, AppDynamics, App Insights, Nagios)
  • Familiarity of load balancer configurations, preferably F5.
  • Scripting Skills (Bash/Python/Perl and/or PowerShell).
  • Docker experience.
  • Configuration management using Salt, Ansible or a similar tool.
  • Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, Ansible or similar tool).
  • SharePoint 2013, 2016, 2019, or subscription edition.
  • SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019.
  • ITIL v3 or v4 Certified.
  • Experience working in PCI, HIPAA, and/or FEDRAMP compliant environments.
