COLLECTING AGENTS (TA) VACANCIES

SALARY: $27.35- $39.08
ELIGIBILTY REQUIREMENTS: This position is open to employees of New York City Transit who are permanently employed as Transit Property Protection Agents (TPPA) or Station Agents (SA) for at least three years by July 22, 2026.
There will be no written test. Applicants will be reviewed in seniority order. Vacancies will be filled based on a review of applicants’ disciplinary, sick leave and operating records.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collecting Agents, under supervision, perform routine work involved in the collection, transportation and delivery of revenue and fare media from various New York City transit and other MTA agency facilities and locations including subway, elevated and surface lines to the central revenue and fare media bureau and form the revenue bureau to banks or depositories; stock Configurable Vending Machines (CVM) and provide security for CVM technicians; complete forms; keep records; make reports; serve as armed revenue guards, drive armored trucks; and perform related work. Some of the physical activities performed by Collecting Agents and environmental conditions experienced are lifting and carrying revenue bags and cash boxes, working as a crew member on armored trucks, walking at a fast pace, standing for long periods, frequently stepping up to and down from two-foot heights; and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
REQUIREMENTS TO BE APPOINTED:
Handgun License Requirement: Collecting Agents must possess a valid Pistol Permit issued by the Pistol Licensing Division of the NYPD for carrying a pistol for New York City Transit and must be qualified to use the pistol. However, if a candidate does not have such a permit/license but is eligible for promotion, the Department will assist with the permit application process and the required training to obtain the weapon license.
The NYPD will conduct a strict background and character investigation before issuing the permit and reissuing each permit renewal. Once the application is completed, applicants will be required to be available for assignment to a Collecting Agent position for 18 months.
Driver License Requirement: Candidates must have a valid New York State Driver’s License. Candidates must also qualify for a New York State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Medical Requirement: Medical guidelines have been established for the position of Collecting Agent. You will be examined to determine whether you can perform the essential functions of the position. When appropriate, reasonable accommodation will be provided for a person with a disability to enable him or her to perform the essential functions of the job.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: There will be a one-year probationary period for all employees accepted to the title of Collecting Agent.
