 The MSII Light Maintainer instructor is responsible for delivering technical and safety training to new and incumbent NYCT employees involved in the inspection, maintenance repair and operation of systems throughout NYCT.

 

Responsibility:

The Track and Infrastructure Training Unit (part of Operations Training Division) provides induction training and skill development for current employees and new employees.
 

  • Deliver classroom and field instruction on light maintenance procedures, tools, and equipment.
  • Develop and update training materials, lesson plans, and practical exercises
  • Evaluate trainee performance through written exams and hands-on assessments
  • Ensure compliance with NYCT policies, OSHA standards, and other regulatory requirements
  • Provide refresher training and remedial instruction as needed
  • Maintain accurate training records and documentation
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to align training with field needs
  • Support new employee onboarding and qualification processes
  • Promote a strong safety culture and reinforce best practices in maintenance work

 

Compensation:

Maintenance Supervisor II (Light Maintainer Instructor) Salary Range:

1st Entrance$110,381.00 USD

2nd Entrance$111,951.00 USD

3rd Entrance$115,888.00 USD

Education and Experience:

 

Five years of full-time-satisfactory experience working for a major railroad or transit authority installing, maintaining, and repairing track; at least one (1) year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

 

To be considered for this position, current MTA employees must have at least one year of service in their current role. Eligibility to interview also requires maintaining a satisfactory record in performance, attendance, and disciplinary conduct.

 

The candidate selected for this position is expected to commit to the role for a minimum of one (1) year to support operations continuity and team effectiveness.
