Hourly Rate:                    $19.00 (Undergraduate)
 
All internship positions are onsite and require regular, in-person attendance at the designated work location.
 
 
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
The Consolidated Pensions unit oversees the administration, compliance, and operations of multiple retirement programs across the MTA, including the MaBSTOA Pension Plan. The team is responsible for ensuring accurate pension calculations, member services, benefit processing, actuarial coordination, and regulatory reporting. We work closely with HR, Payroll, Legal, and external partners to support more than 30,000 active and retired members.

Interns supporting this area will gain exposure to pension administration, data analysis, benefit processing workflows, and public-sector retirement systems. They will assist with document review, research, data validation, and process improvement initiatives that support the accurate and timely delivery of pension benefits.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Build and organize external/internal SharePoint sites, including page layout, navigation, content tagging, and basic governance (versioning, permissions, and review cycles).
  • Draft the first version of the new member enrollment kit, including welcome materials, checklists, FAQs, and plain‑language benefit explanations.
  • Develop and launch the “You Are Vested” postcard campaign, coordinating design, approvals, mailing lists, and drop dates.
  • Create member‑facing content (emails, site copy, quick guides) in clear, accessible language and align it with brand and compliance standards.
  • Collect stakeholder feedback (HR, Payroll, Member Services) and incorporate edits into SharePoint content, the enrollment kit, and postcard materials.
  • Set up basic analytics/metrics (e.g., SharePoint engagement, email click‑through, postcard delivery counts) and report outcomes.
  • Document content workflows—how updates are requested, reviewed, and published—to support ongoing maintenance and governance.
  • Ensure accessibility and readability (e.g., headings, alt text, contrast, readability levels) across SharePoint and printed materials.
PROJECTS:
  • Focus on member engagement and communications for the pension plan.
  • Development of external/internal SharePoint sites.
  • First draft of a new member enrollment kit.
  • Launch of a you are vested postcard project.
 
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
 
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA. 
  • Major(s) Preferred: Open to any major, or related field.
