What You Will Do:
Performs optimal diagnostic ultrasound procedures and provides high quality care for patients of all ages from the neonatal to geriatric. Must be fully trained in all aspects of Ultrasound. Utilizes and maintains all ultrasound equipment and accessories appropriately. Works rotating weekends/shifts, holidays, overtime, and call as needed to provide 24/7 coverage. Maintains computer skills as necessary for department functions.
Follows all personnel, safety, and infection control policies, National Patient Safety Goads, and Joint Commission requirements. Communicates with the Team Leader, Manager or Department Director on issues concerning the departmental productivity or performance improvement. Actively supports and promotes department/hospital patient satisfaction efforts/goals. Completes mandatory hospital/departmental education, maintain required professional certifications and continuing education requirements to include: ARDMS, State licensure (as needed), CPR. Demonstrations good communication skills necessary to relate to physicians, peers, and patients on a professional/technical level. Follows VH Standards of Behavior policy. Attends/reviews staff meetings/minutes.
Supervises ultrasound students in the clinical setting, assisting with education in scanning, anatomy, pathology, policies/protocols/procedures and patient care.
What You Will Bring:
Certificate related field
Satisfactory completion of an accredited Sonography program.
1 year - Healthcare/Medical - Allied Health, Clinical diagnostic ultrasound experience in a hospital setting preferred
Certification & Licensures
ARDMS Certification required
BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved required *
RDMS certification in at least one anatomic category required upon hire.
Additional RDMS certification in which the department is accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) in accordance with the accrediting body’s guidelines.
* New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.
Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development and competence in providing ultrasound services for patients of all ages including neonate, child adolescent, adult and geriatric.
Must be able to work with ultrasound students of varying skill levels.
Demonstrates good communication skills necessary to relate to Physicians, peers and patients on a professional/technical level.
Ability to work shifts as needed to provide 24/7 ultrasound department coverage.
