What You Will Do:

The Fleet Manager will ensure Valley Medical Transport’s fleet of ambulances, wheelchair vans and response vehicles are maintained to the highest safety standards to ensure a safe transport for the patient and crewmembers. The fleet manager will develop and revise as needed a consistent preventative maintenance plan for each fleet vehicle. The fleet manager will directly perform all maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on VMT fleet vehicles to the extent the repair shop environment and equipment allows while minimizing the need for outsourcing major repairs. The fleet manager will create and track all maintenance records for each vehicle through paper and software based program(s) and manage all data associated with fleet maintenance/repair costs. Utilizing data, the fleet manager will make recommendations on required maintenance and repairs to prevent: safety incidents, major costly repairs, and out of service time. The fleet manager will work with field managers and the director to make recommendations/develop an accurate budget related to fleet maintenance and repair. The fleet manager will recommend and manage fleet tracking software and alternative parts and repairs to support safety and budget compliance. Based on maintenance costs and repairs, the fleet manager will make recommendations for fleet replacement plans and actively participate in the specification process for new vehicles. The fleet manager will be responsible for the scheduling, coordination and planning of all VMT fleet vehicle services to minimize the impact on field operations while adhering to preventative maintenance plans and efficient turnaround for unexpected repairs. The fleet manager will ensure no more than three VMT fleet vehicles are out of service for maintenance or repair simultaneously. The fleet manager will create and manage wholesale accounts with parts suppliers and actively seek new partners to decrease expenses and enhance safety/quality. As a condition of employment, the fleet manager will personally own, maintain and replace as needed all of the necessary hand tools, tool cabinets and light diagnostic equipment necessary to perform the work. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis Job Standard Elements: Communicates clearly with all stakeholders in fleet logistics. Maintains a customer service oriented approach to tasks. Must be familiar with ambulance, wheelchair van and ambulatory transportation operations. Awareness of geographical issues relating to time and distance between the repair shop and field operations. Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

What You Will Bring:

Education

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in fleet management required
Experience in ambulance fleet management preferred

Certification & Licensures
Certification by the National Institute of Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) in areas related to maintenance of medium and heavy-duty vehicles required
Certification as a diesel and gasoline mechanic required
Certification as an Emergency Vehicle Technician required
Emergency Vehicle Operators Course required

Qualifications
