What You Will Do:

The Organizational Excellence Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, and delivery of the high reliability program to improve quality and patient safety outcomes at Valley Health (VH). The Coordinator provides support for Quality, Patient Safety, Process Improvement, Leadership, Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance with Joint Commission, CMS, State and other regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities and Duties
Supports improving the value delivered by Valley Health including the improvement of clinical outcomes, patient experience, patient safety, costs, revenue, productivity, efficiency, employee and physician engagement/alignment, and process reliability. Collaborates with leaders across the organization to facilitate alignment between improvement initiatives and the organizations' strategic plan and provides oversight to teams designing and implementing processes for new initiatives, services and other targets identified by Valley Health leadership. Provides coaching and support for Quality, Process Improvement, Patient Safety, Patient Experience, and Leadership to help leaders promote psychological safety, process improvement, accountability, and collective mindfulness. Collaborates with operational leaders and coordinates efforts to support their solving of issues raised through risk reporting, huddles, data trend analysis, and/or other sources. Uses quality and patient safety data to provide strategic direction and support to system and/or facility leaders as they develop and execute plans to achieve Valley Health's strategic objectives. Assists and leads quality review initiatives toward the journey of high reliability. Presents, facilitates and leads assigned tasks by gathering data, problem solving and project management. Provides follow-up to monitor the progress of planned improvement implementation to assure timely action, appropriate support, and achievement of expected measures. Works with staff, physician champions, and executive sponsors to create improvement plans/recommendations to mitigate future harm, including a review of evidence-based and best practices. Develops and presents improvement work and materials including presentations, lectures, on-demand content, and/or ad hoc educational forums to assist leaders and front-line team members with continuous improvement. Guides, supports and coordinates within the system to assure appropriate information flow and overall process improvement is spread up, down and across the organization. Serves as a subject matter expert and internal consultant in improvement science and skilled in transformation of improvement efforts across a complex continuum. Engage all members of the Valley Health team in the application of improvement methodologies and cross-functional teamwork. Serves in a highly visible leadership role, working collaboratively across the enterprise and externally to provide a state, and national presence for the program, and be seen as a leader in quality and safety.

What You Will Bring:

Education

Bachelors in Engineering, Finance, Healthcare, or related field required
Masters in healthcare, business, or related field preferred

Experience
Minimum (3) years of relevant healthcare or change management work experience required.
Experience working in a healthcare organization required.
Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and/or High Reliability required.
Nursing, clinical, healthcare consulting or project management experience preferred.

Certification & Licensures
CPHQ, Lean, Six Sigma, or Project Management preferred
Licensed Registered Nurse or eligible for licensure in Commonwealth of Virginia preferred

Qualifications
Demonstrated experience with accreditation standards, regulations and Virginia/West Virginia state regulations as well as Joint Commission and CMS regulatory compliance standards.
Ability to work with a wide range of partners, from front-line staff to executives, both independently as well as in leading teams. Ability to work with people in a tactful, diplomatic manner and possess good judgment and discretion in dealing with both internal and external customers and regulatory agencies.
Data driven with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data to drive improvement efforts. Expertise in data mining, report writing and/or data presentations required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; adept at adult education principles.
Must be a system thinker and able to connect improvement efforts across entities within the System, as appropriate.
Demonstrated knowledge of quality/performance improvement initiatives with a focus on High Reliability.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work quickly and accurately.
Ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time and prioritize work demands.
Exceptional skills in developing relationships, mediating conflicts, building teams, communicating, and planning.
Ability to maintain disposition and productivity under stress.
Ability to lead and foster shared accountability for change and outcomes and lead high-performing teams.
