What You Will Do:

As an integral part of the Valley Medical Transport (VMT) dispatch team, the VMT Communications Technician will work alongside VMT Dispatchers, Supervisors and the high-volume Valley Health Patient Logistics Center (PLC) staff. The VMT Communications Technician is responsible for: answering phone lines quickly, interacting with internal and external referrals, VMT field staff and the public; evaluate incoming calls to determine the nature and urgency of the call; extract necessary information regarding the requested treatment and transport of patients as well as demographic information; follows established parameters/formats in receiving requests and determining the level of service and medical necessity; assists the dispatcher with the allocation and deployment of EMS/paratransit resources properly as the need arises by application of appropriate decision-making rules and approved protocols/policies; completeness and accuracy of data entry and paperwork related to the position; accurate and complete data entry for each transport throughout the shift including quality assurance processes; checking Medicaid portals/trip manifests and entering applicable information; relays call information to the dispatcher for deployment and/or scheduling; collaborates with the dispatcher, supervisor and field staff to solve customer and transportation issues; maintains a current working knowledge of all company policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and memorandums including state specific EMS regulations; knowledge and use of equipment, including but not limited to the computer, CAD software, printers, clinical and operational equipment, recording devices, telephones, and other equipment as assigned; interacts with PLC staff to potential requests from Valley Health facilities and enters preliminary information for pending requests.

What You Will Bring:

Education

High School Diploma or GED required

Experience
1 year working in customer service or a healthcare setting preferred


Qualifications
Clerical, data entry and computer processing skills preferred
Typing 35wpm preferred
