At our company, we're dedicated to enhancing the experiences of millions of Mississippi citizens by making government interactions more accessible and user-friendly. As a Software Developer, you'll play a pivotal role in achieving this goal. This position is ideal for those at the entry- to mid-level of their software engineering careers and reports directly to the Director of Development.
 
Our portfolio includes a diverse range of services, such as:
  • Java low-code platforms
  • Development and integration of REST, GraphQL, and SOAP web services
  • Batch processing, file exchanges, and document generation
  • Payment processing
  • .NET based web applications
  • We are in the process of transitioning to AWS, where we will utilize various services like API Gateway, Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, Cognito, CloudFront, or S3.
 

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, secure web applications and APIs.
  • Collaborate with and learn from experienced software engineers and other team members. 
This role offers ample opportunities for skill development and hands-on project experience.
 
Upon completing the onboarding process, during which you'll familiarize yourself with our projects, methods, and best practices, you'll progress to tackling increasingly complex development tasks.
 
Ultimately, you'll have the opportunity to lead full-stack projects once you've attained the necessary proficiency level. We understand that every individual's journey is unique, and we're committed to supporting you along the way.
 

Qualifications

We're seeking engineers with a passion for developing and supporting web applications and APIs. While experience with Java MVC frameworks or similar technologies is preferred, we welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and technology stacks. Effective communication skills, both with technical and non-technical audiences, are essential.
 
Desirable qualifications include:
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS and basic JavaScript
  • Knowledge of API design principles and strategies
  • Experience in database modeling with either relational or non-relational databases (including database structure, query writing, and debugging)
  • OWASP best practices

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
  • Security best practices for web applications
  • AWS application development and deployment
  • Serverless Framework
  • Implementation of APM and other telemetry tools
  • CI/CD pipeline setup and usage
  • Knowledge of PCI or HIPAA compliance requirements
